On a wonderfully warm July evening our outgoing year 11s enjoyed a fabulous prom at Tregenna Castle. Our young people arrived in style, chauffeured to the venue in various bedecked vehicles including a tractor (Tilly and Brad), an articulated lorry (Jacob/Declan?) and a rover (?). A large welcoming party of teaching staff and parents were there to see them alight their carriages and it was an emotional experience seeing them all looking so grown up. The girls were unrecognisable in their beautiful dresses and the boys too, handsomely decked out in suits. The leavers all enjoyed mingling and chatting outside on the lawns with their welcome drinks and there were plenty of photo opportunities taking advantage of the fantastic seascape backdrop.
Once inside the venue, the party began. Students and staff enjoyed a delicious three course meal which was followed by an Oscars style ceremony. 24 students received accolades as diverse as ‘Most Lovely’ (Rose) to ‘Best at the Killer Comeback’ (Ryan). Voting had taken place during dinner for Prom King and Queen and Izzy and Ryan were bestowed with this honour and subsequently crowned amidst applause and cheers. Once the ceremonies were over, students were urged to get on their dancing feet and disco the night away –which they did! The teachers joined in with a bit of a boogie too.
All in all, a momentous evening and a very special way to celebrate the end the Cape career of these wonderful young people. We wish them all the very best in their further studies and in their futures beyond.
